1.QUESTION: How does the fourth angel relate to the third angel?
ANSWER: The fourth angel joins the third angel and gives power and force to his message. It also joins with the last work of the third angel’s message and God’s people are empowered to proclaim these last messages.
SUPPORT: “I saw angels hurrying to and fro in heaven. They were descending to earth, and again ascending to heaven, preparing for the fulfillment of some important event. Then I saw another mighty angel commissioned to descend to earth, and unite his voice with the third angel, and give power and force to his message. …The work of this angel comes in at the right time, and joins in the last great work of the third angel’s message, as it swells into a loud cry. And the people of God are fitted up every where to stand in the hour of temptation which they are soon to meet. I saw a great light resting upon them, and they united in the message, and fearlessly proclaimed with great power the third angel’s message.” {1SG 193.2}
2. Question: What are the two parts to the Loud Cry?
ANSWER: The two parts to the Loud Cry are: the announcement of Babylon’s sins and her fall, and the call to come out of fallen Babylon.
SUPPORT: “Hence the movement symbolized by the angel coming down from heaven, lightening the earth with his glory and crying mightily with a strong voice, announcing the sins of Babylon. In connection with his message the call is heard: ‘Come out of her, My people.’ ” {GC 604.1}
3. Question: What are the two parts to the final warning?
ANSWER: The third angel’s message and the loud cry are the two parts to the final warning.
SUPORT: “Of Babylon, at the time brought to view in this prophecy, it is declared: “Her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.” Revelation 18:5. She has filled up the measure of her guilt, and destruction is about to fall upon her. But God still has a people in Babylon; and before the visitation of His judgments these faithful ones must be called out, that they partake not of her sins and ‘receive not of her plagues.’ Hence the movement symbolized by the angel coming down from heaven, lightening the earth with his glory and crying mightily with a strong voice, announcing the sins of Babylon. ” In connection with his message the call is heard: “Come out of her, My people. These announcements, uniting with the third angel’s message, constitute the final warning to be given to the inhabitants of the earth.” {GC 604.1}
4. QUESTION: What is the difference between “Babylon is fallen” in the second angel’s message of Revelation 14, as given in the summer of 1844, and “Babylon is fallen” in the Loud Cry of Revelation 18?
ANSWER: The second angel’s message announced the beginning of the fall of Babylon. Its fall was caused by the rejection of the first angel’s message by the Protestant churches of America. Babylon continues to fall lower as it rejects the three angels’ messages. By the time the Loud cry announces its fall again, Babylon will have completely fallen and will have made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.
SUPPORT: “As the teachings of spiritualism are accepted by the churches, the restraint imposed upon the carnal heart is removed, and the profession of religion will become a cloak to conceal the basest iniquity. A belief in spiritual manifestations opens the door to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils, and thus the influence of evil angels will be felt in the churches.” {GC 603.2}
“They had chosen a ruler who chained them to his car as captive… Satanic agencies were incorporated with men. The bodies of human beings, made for the dwelling place of God, had become the habitation of demons. The senses, the nerves, the passions, the organs of men, were worked by supernatural agencies in the indulgence of the vilest lust. The very stamp of demons was impressed upon the countenances of men. Human faces reflected the expression of the legions of evil with which they were possessed.” {DA 36.3}
“As a cage is full of birds, so are their houses full of deceit: therefore they are become great, and waxen rich.” (Jeremiah 5:27)
“Mine heritage is unto me as a speckled bird, the birds round about are against her; come ye, assemble all the beasts of the field, come to devour.”{Jeremiah 12:9, KJV}
6. QUESTION: List and explain the sins of Babylon, as stated in Revelation 18.
ANSWER: The sins of Babylon are summarized in Revelation 18: 3. She has committed fornication with the “kings of the earth” by “cheating” on God, committing adultery with all the leaders of the earth, and gaining bad influence from these secular “great ones” and corrupting her faith. This influence causes her to gain the wine of error, or false doctrines, which she then gives to all nations, causing them to break God’s law and believe other false doctrines; so she commits fornication with them also. She is also living extravagantly, making the “merchants” of the earth rich by her delicious living, and she is glorifying herself, not living unselfishly like Christ, but living only for herself.
QUESTION: “The great sin charged against Babylon is that she ‘made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.’ This cup of intoxication which she presents to the world represents the false doctrines that she has accepted as the result of her unlawful connection with the great ones of the earth. Friendship with the world corrupts her faith, and in her turn she exerts a corrupting influence upon the world by teaching doctrines which are opposed to the plainest statements of Holy Writ.” {GC 388.2}
“The fallen denominational churches are Babylon. Babylon has been fostering poisonous doctrines, the wine of error. This wine of error is made up of false doctrines, such as the natural immortality of the soul, the eternal torment of the wicked, the denial of the pre-existence of Christ prior to His birth in Bethlehem, and advocating and exalting the first day of the week above God’s holy and sanctified day. These and kindred errors are presented to the world by the various churches, and thus the Scriptures are fulfilled that say, ‘For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.’ It is a wrath which is created by false doctrines, and when kings and presidents drink this wine of the wrath of her fornication, they are stirred with anger against those who will not come into harmony with the false and satanic heresies which exalt the false sabbath, and lead men to trample underfoot God’s memorial.” {TM 61.3}
“But the man of sin, exalting himself above God, sitting in the temple of God, and showing himself to be God, thought to change times and laws. This power, thinking to prove that it was not only equal to God, but above God, changed the rest day, placing the first day of the week where the seventh should be. And the Protestant world has taken this child of the papacy to be regarded as sacred. In the Word of God this is called her fornication”. {7BC 979.7}
“…Extravagance in the use of means, selfishness, heresies, have taken the world captive. For centuries satanic agencies have been at work…(MS 172, 1899)?” {7BC 985.3}
7. QUESTION: When do Babylon’s sins reach unto heaven?
ANSWER: When Babylon makes God’s law void by man’s law (legislation), or when the Sunday law is passed compelling people to worship on Sunday and regard it as the Sabbath, with punishment for breaking this law, then will Babylon’s sins have reached to heaven, and her cup will be full.
SUPPORT: “When do her sins reach unto heaven [Rev. 18:2-5]? When the law of God is finally made void by legislation. – ST June 12, 1893.” {LDE 198.5}
“God keeps a record with the nations. The figures are swelling against them in the books of heaven, and when it shall have become a law that the transgression of the first day of the week shall be met with punishment, then their cup will be full.–7BC 910” (1886).
8. QUESTION: Why does Revelation 18 say that Babylon receives the plagues?
ANSWER: Babylon will receive the plagues because she has lived deliciously and she has not sacrificed her desires or lusts. She has opposed and rejected God by not obeying any of his laws. The wages of sin is death.
SUPPORT: “How much she hath glorified herself, and lived deliciously, so much torment and sorrow give her: for she saith in her heart, I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow. Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire: for strong is the Lord God who judgeth her.” {Revelation 18:7, 8}
9. QUESTION: If you are honestly serving God, what difference does it make which church you belong to?
ANSWER: The honest followers of God will search the bible for its truths, and in searching they will learn of Babylon and her associates. After learning of the true nature of Babylon, the good honest followers of God will leave their corrupt churches that are currently rejecting the three angels’ messages because they became part of Babylon by refusing the truth.
SUPPORT: “The whole chapter shows that Babylon that has fallen is the churches who will not receive the messages of warning the Lord has given in the first, second, and third angels’ messages.” {2SM 68.1}
“The fallen denominational churches are Babylon…” {TM 61.3}
10. QUESTION: Why are there only two distinct calls made to the churches?
ANSWER: The first call (the second angel’s message) was made announcing the beginning of Babylon’s fall, which was caused by the rejection of the first angel’s messages by the Protestant churches of America. It came at the beginning of her fall. But the second distinct call is the Loud Cry, saying again that Babylon is fallen, and fully fallen this time by rejecting all three angels’ messages and regarding God’s law as void, and she is about to be destroyed by plagues. It by itself urges God’s people to come out of Babylon to escape her destruction, while the Midnight Cry had to accompany the second angel to tell people to come out of the fallen churches. God’s people receive much power in the form of the latter rain (Holy Spirit) to proclaim the Loud Cry, the last warning before Babylon is destroyed.
SUPPORT: “In the last work for the warning of the world, two distinct calls are made to the churches. The second angel’s message is, ‘Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.’ And in the loud cry of the third angel’s message a voice is heard from heaven saying, ‘Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.’ ” {Mar 189.1}
“Revelation 18 points to the time when, as the result of rejecting the threefold warning of Revelation 14:6-12, the church will have fully reached the condition foretold by the second angel, and the people of God still in Babylon will be called upon to separate from her communion. This message is the last that will ever be given to the world; and it will accomplish its work… ‘Come out of her, My people’ (Revelation 18:4).” {GC 390.2}
“The glory of God rested upon the patient, waiting saints, and they fearlessly gave the last solemn warning, proclaiming the fall of Babylon, and calling upon God’s people to come out of her; that they might escape her fearful doom.” {1SG 194.1}
11.QUESTION: When is the Loud Cry supposed to be given?
ANSWER: The Loud Cry is supposed to be proclaimed now. We must warn the whole world that Babylon is fallen, and warn God’s people to come out. If we take on this task of proclaiming the final warning that God has given us, the work will soon be accomplished. The powers of Babylon will retaliate to this threat to their power and authority, and will bring persecution on God’s commandment-keeping people who are proclaiming Babylon’s sins and warning the rest of the world. Our part in proclaiming the Loud Cry now will bring the end nearer; Babylon will try to stifle this proclamation of how it is breaking of God’s law, and it will eventually pass a Sunday law directed against those who keep God’s commands. Technically, the very last sounding of the Loud Cry comes after the Sunday law has been passed, and the latter rain with the seal of God will descend on those who stay true to God’s commands and not to human laws when they conflict. Then will God’s people proclaim the Loud Cry for the last time, and it is then that I believe it will have the greatest effect, and millions will “come out of Babylon”. Then will everyone’s decision have been made, and Jesus will come again!
“The message of the angel following the third is now to be given to all parts of the world. It is to be the harvest message. –Letter 86, 1900.” {LDE 208.1}
12. What is it that gives power to the Loud Cry?
ANSWER: The latter rain, the last great outpouring of the Holy Spirit (the “refreshing” from the presence of the Lord”), will come with the Loud Cry, to give power to the third angel’s loud voice. It refreshes and empowers those who proclaim the message, so that they are able to finish the work of the gospel commission and warn the world with great power and urgency.
SUPPORT: “At that time the “latter rain,” or refreshing from the presence of the Lord, will come, to give power to the loud voice of the third angel, and prepare the saints to stand in the period when the seven last plagues shall be poured out.–EW 86 (1854).” {LDE 186.4}
“I heard those clothed with the armor speak forth the truth with great power. It had effect. . . . I asked what had made this great change. An angel answered, ‘It is the latter rain, the refreshing from the presence of the Lord, the loud cry of the third angel.’–EW 271 (1858).” {LDE 186.5}
